Bedford Vital Statistics Department also handles Acknowledgment of Paternity paperwork. This paperwork is necessary when the mother and father are not married and the father is being added to the birth certificate after it has been filed to the Local Registrar at City Hall. When filing this Acknowledgment, both parents need to be present and need to bring picture identification to be able to complete the form. This can be done during regular business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
