Child Abduction Response Team

There is rarely a crime which raises such alarm within a police department and the community it serves as a missing or abducted child.  A valuable asset to aid in the recovery of a missing child is to enlist the help of a Child Abduction Response Team (C.A.R.T.).   Members of the Bedford Police Department belong to this region's C.A.R.T.   This team also consists of members from surrounding police departments along with personnel from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's office and Prosecutor's office.  Members of a C.A.R.T. are trained and cross trained in the various responsibilities that make up a team.  Some areas of training are communications, accurate reporting, interviewing, search and rescue, evidence recognition and recovery, volunteer management and many other disciplines.

The Bedford Police Department also utilizes the following organizations to assist in the quickest recovery of missing or abducted children:  Amber Alert, A Child is Missing, Truckers Helping to Recover Ohio's Missing Children, Code Red and The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
