The City of Bedford utilizes Auxiliary Police in the operation of police services. Some of these services include assisting the police with traffic control, sporting events, severe weather related problems and many other needs that may arise within the city.

One of the many responsibilities the auxiliary police perform are "Vacation Checks" for the citizens of Bedford. Citizens are encouraged to contact the police department when they are out of town, for any reason, for an extended period of time. Auxiliary police personnel will regularly check your home for possible problems. If a problem does surface the police department will call you or the emergency contact you designate. We found this service is extremely helpful for those who have taken advantage of it.
