| The
Bedford Police Department
is comprised of thirty-two full-time sworn Police Officers,
six full-time Dispatchers, Chief's Secretary, Detective Bureau
Secretary and a Record Specialist. Ten part-time employees that
include dispatchers, corrections, car wash and animal control
personnel also support the Department. In addition, a Police
Auxiliary Unit supplements the Patrol Division. Some of their
duties include traffic and crowd control, vacation checks and
security needs at special functions. |

Recognizing our responsibility to maintain order, while affording dignity and respect to every individual, our objective is to improve the quality of life through community partnership which promotes safe, secure neighborhoods. |
| In
2001, the Department updated the graphics it uses on the marked
Police Cruisers. Included in the fleet are several unmarked
Detective units and surveillance cars. We also have two marked
K9 units and a rapid deployment SWAT vehicle.
