| Volunteer for Independence Program |
| A number of older adults in our community are now facing serious challenges in continuing to live independently in their own homes. These challenges demand a compassionate response from caring individuals in our city.
The Volunteer for Independence (VIP) is an effort coordinated by the Older Adult Connection in southeast Cuyahoga and northeast Summit county to assist the aging in their homes with basic tasks that foster a sense of independence. The VIP program offers a variety of levels of service for volunteers from an in-home companion for several hours a week to a household assistant who might tackle some cleaning or organizing tasks in the home. This program is not intended to replace home health care, housekeeping services, and landscaping or other professional service providers. It is focused on providing minimal assistance to foster a sense of independence for seniors in our community.
The VIP is open for volunteers of all ages who wish to be involved and make a significant difference in the lives of older adults. For more information or to pick up a volunteer application please contact the Recreation Department.
